Car Maintenance by Using Air

 

Get more out of your car by using simple principles of “air management”.   Following these simple tips can get your vehicle brimming with life and lasting longer.  Not to mention the amount you can save from optimal fuel performance and minimizing trips to the repair shop. 

 

  1. Get the right air in your tires.  Purchase a good tire guage and a portable air pump for home use.  Check your vehicle’s manual for the proper tire pressure and check it at least once a day.  Properly inflated tires make the car handle better, making it much safer.  Proper inflation also makes your tires last longer so that you don’t have to replace your tires that often.  Properly inflated tires can also save you at the gas pump for as much as 22.6 miles to the gallon.  All this talk about inflation, don’t over do it.  It also dangerous to over-inflate your tires, it could lead to blow-outs. 
  2. Change your air filter regularly. The air filter is a piece of thick corrugated paper with a rubber ring around it.  It absorbs all the dust and dirt from driving around. All that dirt eventually keeps your engine from getting enough clean air to optimize it’s burn and thus straining your car.   It’s like throwing away your household trash.  It is recommended to change your air filter every six months.  Keep a couple handy so that you don’t have to drive to an auto store to get them.  It’s very easy to change the air filter on many cars. Two screws or a couple of clips, five minutes, and it’s replaced.
